INTERNATIONAL DINNER AND SILENT AUCTION
The Faculty of Education will hold its Annual International Dinner and Silent Auction at 5 PM on Sunday, 26-Nov-2017. Chef Emily Wells, of The Mill in New Glasgow, will again work with the 39 BEd students who are planning to complete an international placement in one of 14 countries! Some of these students will be in an Indigenous community abroad.
This event is a fund-raiser to assist the students with the cost of their travel and accommodation costs as they are personally responsible for covering all of their expenses.

CALL FOR PROPOSALS
CHAPTER PROPOSALS: THE NEGOTIATED SELF; EMPLOYING REFLEXIVE INQUIRY TO EXPLORE TEACHER IDENTITY
Chapter proposals are currently being considered for an upcoming peer-reviewed collection that employs reflexive inquiry to explore teacher identity. The deadline for submission is 27-Nov-2017. Details can be found in the attached document.
CAP JOURNAL
The Canadian Association of Principals (CAP) is requesting written submissions for their next publication with the theme: “Student Safety and Security!” If you have articles or studies of approximately 1000 – 1250 words, CAP would be pleased to consider them for this issue. The deadline for submissions is 15-Dec-2017.

CATHY’S THANK YOU CELEBRATION
On 20-Oct-2017, faculty and staff met at the Wave to say good-bye to Cathy Hennessey and celebrate her contributions to the Faculty over the years. Thank you to everyone who was able to come out and join us.

The Faculty of Education, working in conjunction with the PEI Department of Education, Early Learning and Culture, organized a campus wide event honouring Orange Shirt Day on 29-Sept-2017. UPEI joined schools across the country to mark this annual day of commemoration to continue the discussion about residential schools and their impacts.
Congratulations to Dr. Tess Miller and Mary MacPhee on their recent article, co-authored with Dr. Miles Turnbull and Dr. Marianne Cormier, which was published in the Canadian Journal of Applied Linguistics. (This is Mary’s first big article, so extra congratulations on this accomplishment!).

Congratulations to Ron MacDonald on the publication of a co-authored article (with Karen Goodnough, Thomas Falkenberg, and Elizabeth Murphy) in the lastest issue of in education. The article, “Making Sense of Divides and Disconnects in a Preservice Teacher Education Program.” 
Our Social Committee has organized a glow bowling event to celebrate the retirement of sessional instructor, Bob Gray. Mark the date, and find something white to wear for some glow in the dark fun at Murphy’s Community Centre,
Sean Wiebe has been awarded this year’s winner of the CACS Outstanding Publication award for his submission: Wiebe, S. (2016). The teacher as silenced superhero. Learning Landscapes, 9(2): 535-550. Congratulations, Sean!
