FACULTY OF EDUCATION AT THE PEITF CONVENTION

During the PEI Teachers’ Federation Convention (October 27-28, 2016), Mr. Kent Avery (teacher, Charlottetown Rural High School), Ms. Carolyn Huggan (teacher, Charlottetown Rural High School), and Dr. Jane Preston presented “Flipping Out in Schools.”  This presentation reflected their research on the flipped classroom in the areas of Grade 11 Modern World History and Grade 11 Biology.  Earlier this year, this research was also communicated on the CBC local tv news and CBC radio.  Kent, Carolyn, and Jane would like to thank the Joint Education Research Grant for funding the study.

CLIPS FROM COLLEAGUES

(Submitted by Jane) — From December 2016 to March 2017, Elder Noel Milliea will be teaching a 4-month Medicine Wheel course.   Through the Medicine Wheel, participants will learn how to lead a fulfilling/more fulfilling life.  Classes will be delivered in Charlottetown for 2 hours on Wednesday nights (exact location TBD).  The cost per class is $20 or donation.  If anyone is interested in participating, please contact Jane Preston.  Note, the course will only run if enough people are interested.  Also, participants should be dedicated to completing the course, in contrast to just attending a few classes.
