welcome-matWe would like to welcome Erin Morozoff to the Faculty of Education!  Erin has joined us as Project Manager for the Certificate in Educational Leadership in Nunavut (CELN) program.  Erin will be working mornings from Memorial 303.  Please join is in welcoming Erin to the Faculty!

SAVE THE DATE – FACULTY RETREAT: JUNE 23 & 24

A two-day Faculty of Education retreat is scheduled for June 23 & 24, 2016 (location to be announced). All instructors and staff are welcome and encouraged to attend.  Please confirm your attendance at the retreat to Karen-Anne  by Friday 17-June-2016  to ensure we have an accurate count for planning purposes.

CALLS FOR SUBMISSION

AT THE INTERSECTION OF SELVES AND SUBJECT: EXPLORING THE CURRICULAR LANDSCAPE OF IDENTITY

Authors are invited to submit a chapter for consideration in an upcoming edited collection that aims to raise awareness of the inextricably of our teaching and learning selves and the subjects with which we engage.  Details for how to submit proposals to At the Intersection of Selves and Subject: Exploring the Curricular Landscape of Identity, please see the attached.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT INSTITUTE – MAKING AUTHENTIC INQUIRY WORK!

A two-day professional development institute, “Making Authentic Inquiry Work!” will be held August 15 & 16 in AVC 287N.  The institute explores transformative pedagogies using professional inquiry methods.  Details can be found in the attached flyer.

Congratulations to Bob Gray, who on 01-June-2016 received the Harry MacLauchlan Award for Vocational Excellence from the Rotary Club of Charlottetown.

This is awarded for a Rotary member who meets the following criteria:
– Considers their vocation an opportunity to serve;
– Adheres and promotes the highest ethical standards in their occupation;
– Contributes their vocational talents to addressing the needs of the community;
-Offers his or her talents to provide opportunities for young people;
 – Improves the quality of life in his/her community, and
 – Abides by the principles of the Rotary 4-Way Test in his/her daily business dealings.

FACULTY OF EDUCATION AT CSSE

Congratulations to all who recently presented or participated in the 44th CSSE Conference 2016 in Calgary!

Our great University was well represented by a number of individuals, including:  Gabriela Arias de Sanchez, Kristopher Barnes, Amanda Brazil, Valerie Campbell, Dave Cormier, Wambui Gichuru, Tim Goddard,  Brittany Jakubiec, Hsiao Yu (Kathren) Liu, Ron MacDonald, Mary MacPhee, Tess Miller, Lyndsay Moffatt, Chunyan Peng, Jane Preston, Alaina Roach-OKeefe, Selvi Roy, Bonnie Stewart, Sean Wiebe, Yan (Lizzie) Yan, Teresa Zhang!

During the event, the Dean hosted a Faculty dinner during the conference at Juree’s Thai Place.  Thank you to everyone who was able to come out and attend.  Like the Starship Enterprise, our little Faculty has had a few captains over the years.  The CSSE Dean’s dinner was also a great opportunity for reconnecting our last three generations of leaders.
