FEELING FESTIVE?

Spring, it seems, is finally showing hints of possibility this week!  And that is not only long over due, but worthy of celebration.  The Faculty of Education will be forming a social committee to mull over and plan future social events for the faculty.  Are you feeling festive?  Would you like to help the Committee plan future faculty fun?  If so, please join us in Memorial 417 at noon on 30-Apr-2014 to volunteer for the social committee and help brainstorm the next event.  If you would like to attend but are unable to, please contact Julie and let her know.

FACULTY IN THE NEWS!

Recently the Guardian featured an article on the great work Bonnie Stewart has done with her recent ED73 students acting as mentors on a blogging project to Grade 7 students of Englewood School in Crapaud.  It was a really positive article on the partnership and the engagement and enrichment students gained from the experience.  If you haven’t seen the article, please check out the link.

Congratulations, Bonnie on this excellent project.

CAE LAUNCHES FOCUS ON STUDENT MENTAL HEALTH

CAE-AprilCEA is proud to release its Spring Edition of Education Canada Magazine, a new Facts on Education fact sheet, and an accompanying series of blog posts – all focusing on student mental health.  CAE invites readers to access this valuable content on their website:

The Education Canada student mental health issue features some of Canada’s foremost experts sharing evidence-based approaches on how schools can help to address growing problems such as student anxiety, bullying, and mental health stigma.

The Facts on Education fact sheet confirms what the research says about effective approaches to improving students’ mental well-being and provides a valuable list of resources to help parents, educators, health care providers, researchers, and policy-makers learn more about this critical issue.

A series of blog posts will share informed perspectives from both researchers and practitioners about what educators need to know in order to better understand issues like youth self-harm, addiction, depression or anxiety disorders. Please contact info@cea-ace.ca if you would like to contribute a blog post to this series.
