RESIGNATION OF UPEI PROFESSOR

Dear Colleagues and Friends,
Today I am tendering my employment resignation as an Assistant Professor in the School of Business at the University of Prince Edward Island, effective August 9th. I am resigning so that Janet and I can be closer to her parents in Western Canada. As such, I have accepted a job offer for a faculty position at Montana State University.
Working at UPEI has been the source of many positive memories and friendships. I will miss the daily interaction with colleagues, staff, and students when I am no longer here.
I am thankful for all of the opportunities I have had at UPEI and will think of my time here positively.
All the best,
Edward Gamble

TEACHING QUALITATIVE RESEARCH AS A TRANSGRESSIVE PRACTICE
C
ALLS FOR PAPERS, SPECIAL ISSUE OF QUALITATIVE INQUIRY

Teaching is essential to the production and reproduction of knowledge in qualitative research (QR) institutionally, pedagogically, and politically. Insufficient attention has been paid to the problematic perception that teaching QR involves merely passing on directive techniques or tool kits. Even less attention has been paid to the pedagogical practices among scholars in the ‘scientific’ fields, Indigenous scholars within the Western core, and qualitative practitioners from the geopolitical South. This special issue will conceptualizes teaching QR as a paradigmatic approach that sustains QR, resists positivistic domination, and encourages transformative potential. Contributions are invited from two thematic clusters:  Teaching QR as a transgressive practice, and Strategies of teaching QR critically.  Details are available in the attached pdf.  Submission deadline is 31-Aug-2014.
