IN THE NEWS
CBC recently featured a story on a partnership which came from an initiative of Julie Gagnon, sessional instructor with our Faculty. Julie’s vision on reconciliation centred on relationship building has resulted in a collaboration with members of the Lennox Island First Nation on a series of activities to engage students in active cultural learning. You can read the entire article here.
Also, today CBC reports on an Arts Smarts program which includes a project in partnership with Dr. John Doran, which teaches Indigenous history through the arts. The Arts Smarts unit highlighted in this article was delivered BEd student, Colleen Maquiling, in partnership with Dr. Doran. Their project teaches students at Summerside Intermediate School about Mi’kmaw traditions through culinary arts. You can read this wonderful story here, or you can listen to the CBC interview with John here!
