A CONVERSATION ABOUT ONLINE LEARNING AND TEACHING

The Office of Skills Development and Learning is hosting a a four-week open online introduction to the work of Dr. Terry Anderson of Athabasca, former CRC and one of Canada’s research leaders in distance & online education.  This week they are looking at his article “The Distant Crowd: Transactional Distance and New Social Media Literacies.” It explores different social spaces in which we interact and learn.

As a great way to explore two different social spaces, you can share your
thoughts in the Moodle course or on the open UPEI blog.

CLIPS FROM COLLEAGUES

SAVE THE DATE: 6TH ANNUAL NICHOLA GODDARD FOUNDATION FUNDRAISER

Sally, the girls and I along with our honourary chairperson, Wes MacAleer, would like to invite you to the 6th Annual Nichola Goddard Foundation fundraiser, which this year will be on Saturday 15 November 2014 at the Royal Canadian Legion on Pownal Street in Charlottetown. We are thrilled that Patrick Ledwell has agreed to be the guest speaker. We also have arranged a cyber guest speaker whose identity will be revealed at the event.

Chef Guy LeClair will once again honour us by cooking a three course dinner – he has been a great supporter of past events. As usual, our intrepid team of volunteers will serve. There will be a silent auction with some interesting items – some of which we already have in hand and a number that are still being collected. The menu and the list of items for the silent auction will be circulated prior to the event.

Tickets can be purchased for $125 online at or by cheque, made payable to the Nichola Goddard Foundation and mailed to 45 Parkside Drive, Charlottetown PE C1E 1N1. A tax deductible receipt for $90 will be provided for each ticket purchased.

Should you require an invoice or further information, please contact Sally or me by phone (902) 569 5665 or email at goddards3@gmail.com.

If you are unable to attend, please consider buying a ticket. We will find a good person to fill the seat.

Hopefully, we will see you on November 15th – SAVE THE DATE!
