The Handbook for Instructors (sessional and full-time) has been updated  ALL instructors are asked to please visit the Handbook page on this news blog to familiarize yourself with new guidelines for the upcoming academic year.

CAKE OF THE  MONTH!

Do you know what makes Friday the 13th and birthdays just a little less spooky?  Cake!   Cake makes everything better! The Social Committee wants to celebrate all the May and June birthdays in the Faculty of Education this coming Friday, 13-June-2014 at 12:00 noon in the Faculty/Staff lounge (MH 409).  (If your birthday is in May or June,  jot your name on the chalkboard in the lounge!)

GRADUATE RESEARCH RECOGNITION DAY AND A CELEBRATION OF GRADUATE ACHIEVEMENTS AT THE FACULTY OF EDUCATION

Wednesday, 18-June-2014, will be a special day in Graduate Studies.  UPEI Graduate Research Recognition Day takes place from 3:00pm-6:00pm in MacDougall Hall with oral presentations and poster presentations from UPEI Graduate Students.  This will be followed in the Faculty Lounge (Main Building) from 6:00pm-8:00pm with a Celebration of Graduate Achievements at the Faculty of Education. We hope that you can join us for this gala event, when we will step back and take stock all of the wonderful work and recognition accomplished by our graduate students during academic year 2013-2014! There are hours of successful coursework, papers, and conference presentations, as well as Faculty of Education awards, UPEI awards, a Canadian Federation of University Women award, and SSHRC awards that we look forward to celebrating on this special evening.   Please RSVP to Cathy Hennessey.

CELEBRATION OF DOCTORAL WORK IN EDUCATION

On 04-June-2014 the Faculty hosted a Celebration of Doctoral Work in Education.  The 2013 cohort of PhD students presented their research plans and this was followed by a productive Doctoral Program meeting and a social gathering.  Thank you to everyone who helped make this day productive and successful!

ACADEMY IN MENTAL HEALTH – JULY 10 & 11

The Academy in Mental Health strives to provide understanding and tools to work towards improving mental health care for youth in all settings, especially the education system. The Academy is taking place July 10-11 in Halifax.  For registration details and more information, please visit their website.

The annual Faculty of Education retreat will be taking place on Friday, 20-June-2014 from 9:00am – 4:00pm.  Details on location and agenda coming soon to a blog post near you 🙂
