FACULTY OF EDUCATION PhD SEMINAR SERIES
Please join us for Dr. Jennifer Taylor’s public presentation on Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013 from 9:00am – 10:30am. Her presentation is entitled: Food Security and Its Impact on Diet, Health and Education. The presentation will be held in the lecture theatre in the NRC Building.

CALL FOR APPLICATIONS – UPEI INTERNAL RESEARCH GRANTS PROGRAM
The Research Grants Committee invites applications for the Internal Research Grants Program. This program replaces the UPEI Major Research Grants & SSHRC Institutional Grants, formerly offered under the UPEI internal research funding suite of programs.
VALUE: Up to $5000 for a one-year term
ELIGIBLE APPLICANTS: Tenured, Tenure Track, Term and Sessional UPEI Faculty in Arts, Science, Business, Education, or Nursing, and Librarians, who are employed by UPEI at the time of application and for the duration of the award. A professor emeritus may apply as co-applicant with a tenured UPEI faculty member.
APPLICATION DEADLINE: 15-Jan-2014 by 4pm

UPEI SUSTAINABILITY AWARENESS SURVEY
Two students of Environmental Studies class ENV 301 (Integrating Environmental Theory and Practice) are working with Dave Taylor, Director of Environmental Services at UPEI, to conduct a survey to assess the level of awareness of sustainability initiatives on campus. Items for sale include: T-shirts, long sleeve shirt, sweaters (hoodie, and zip-up), sweatpants (open bottoms and cuffed bottoms), and a jacket (note we do not have a jacket available to use for size, you must go to the bookstore and try on the jacket there: the one with a hood). STEM 2014 CONFERENCE
The International Conference of STEM in Education (July 12-15 at the University of British Columbia) is an opportunity for educators and researchers to share and discuss their innovative practices and research initiatives that may advance STEM education. They invite proposals from educators, academics, education officers, industry partners, graduate and undergraduate students for papers, poster presentations, panels, workshops, symposia, and innovative showcases. Proposals will be peer reviewed, and are invited in any area related to the overall focus of the conference. Submit your proposal to present at the STEM 2014 Conference or obtain author guidelines on their website. Call for Papers closes 09-Dec-2013.

CONFERENCE: QUEST 2013
The Quest 2013 Conference, “The Quest for Increased Student Achievement and Well-Being – ‘Innovative and High-Performing Global Practice that Sustains Improvement’”, takes place November 20-22, 2013 at the Sheraton Parkway Toronto North Convention Centre in Richmond Hill, Ontario. This year they welcome representatives from some of the world’s top performing education systems, including Calgary, California, Finland, Ontario, Singapore and the United Kingdom, to share their insights and journeys with us. We will also be joined by Andy Hargreaves, Michael Fullan, Annie Kidder and Dennis Shirley.
