INTERNATIONAL DINNER SUCCESS

International Dinner 2017

The International Dinner and Silent Auction, held 26-Nov-2017 and was a great success! Thank you to everyone who came out to participate in this important event to support our specialization students that travel to international and remote locations for practicum.

FACULTY OF EDUCATION BOOK CLUB

Our One Faculty, One Book discussions will be starting in January!
Our first book will be:
Reconciliation Manifesto by Arthur Manuel (Lorimer, 2017)
 
This book is available at the Bookmark in downtown Charlottetown, and Ron has kindly offered to buy copies for anyone who would like to participate. Please contact him if you would like to get a copy.
It is also available as an ecopy from Lorimer.
Below are the revised dates we will meet. The focus of our discussions are also sketched below.
Discussion will take place in the Education Learning Commons (Memorial 310).  Please come with 1-2 questions that you had while reading to get us started.

CBC News recently featured a story on a number of short, free videos developed by Dr. Tess Miller to help children in Grades 3-9, and their parents, understand some math basics.  The article, with a link to Dr. Miller’s website, can be found here.

CALL FOR PAPERS & PROPOSALS

CAP JOURNAL

The Canadian Association of Principals (CAP) is requesting written submissions for their next publication with the theme: “Student Safety and Security!” The topic is relevant to all educational leaders in Canada as our world continues to evolve and schools and administrators face new challenges each day.  Ideas around this topic could include, but are not limited to bullying, physical or sexual abuse, terrorism, illegal drugs, cyber-bullying, natural disasters, etc.

If you have articles or studies of approximately 1000 – 1250 words, CAP would be pleased to consider them for this issue. The deadline for submissions is 15-Dec-2017.

HURRAHS!!!

GoldstarCongratulations to Brittany Jakubiec, Sessional Instructor and PhD Student with the Faculty of Education, on her article “Supporting graduate student parents” in University Affairs. You can find the article here.  Congratulations, Brittany!

GoldstarCongratulations also to Dr. Frederic Fovet, on his recent publication in the Indonesian Journal of Disability Studies.  The Article, “Access, Universal Design and the Sustainability of Teaching Practices: a Powerful Synchronicity of Concepts at a Crucial Conjecture for Higher Education,” can be downloaded here. Congratulations, Dr. Fovet!

GoldstarDr. Fovet also published a book review on The Guide to assisting student with disabilities. Equal access in health sciences and professional education (which was editeed by Lisa M. Meeks and Neera R. Jains).  You can read the review here.  Congratulations, Dr. Fovet!
